The Scott Building has been updated to meet seismic requirements and has new modern extensions to the east and south. A 'U' configuration has been created by removing the center of the upper two stories, allowing daylight into new apartments and forming an elevated courtyard at Level 2. A discreet, modern fourth level will be added, hidden behind the existing building's parapet, to provide more rental apartments.
A new six-storey wood frame volume has been added to the east of the Scott Building, visually distinct from the existing building to highlight the heritage component. Modern elements from the new structure will be integrated into the existing building, creating a cohesive development.
