Grace Residence

With a growing family, the client asked for the reworking of their home in North Vancouver; this would include a distinct primary bedroom and a renovation to the existing floor plan to create a more open-plan living space.

The ground-floor suite is unchanged. Above it, the second floor extends into the garden on a braced heavy timber frame. The frame is minimal, creating a sheltered yet open space that the family can use outdoors year-round in Pacific Northwest weather.

The addition is designed to read as a separate volume. Heavy timber and standing-seam metal cladding set it apart from the original timber cladding and stucco. Inside, it holds the new primary bedroom, with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.
